Instructions
Wash and dry the potatoes, then pierce them several times with a fork or knife. Rub each of the potatoes with extra virgin olive oil (EVOO). Sprinkle with a generous amount of Kosher or sea salt.
Place the potatoes into the basket of your air fryer and cook for 35 minutes at 400°F (205°C). Flip the potatoes and continue air frying for an additional 5-10 minutes until the potatoes are fork-tender.
When the potatoes have reached your desired level of tenderness, use tongs to remove them to plates. Serve immediately.
Notes
It's up to you if you want to preheat your air fryer, however, it's unnecessary for most air fryer recipes.
Poking the potatoes allows the steam to escape while cooking and helps your potatoes to cook quickly and evenly.
Make sure that you don't overcrowd your air fryer basket. It's important to leave enough space between the potatoes so that they cook evenly at the same time.
Your potatoes are done when an inserted fork or knife is easily inserted into the middle of the potatoes.
Convection-oven style air fryers should be set to 375°F (190°C). Cook the potatoes for the same amount of time, flipping them at the halfway point in the cooking time.
To store: Place fully cooled leftover baked potatoes into a shallow airtight storage container or wrap them with aluminum foil. Refrigerate for up to 4-5 days.
To freeze: Wrap your cooled baked potatoes in plastic cling film, then a layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil, and place in a freezer storage bag. Potatoes freeze well for up to 2-3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge or reheat from frozen.
To reheat: It's usually best to reheat using the same cooking method for your baked potatoes. Leftover baked potatoes can be reheated in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through to your liking. Or see my complete tips on reheating baked potatoes here.
