Instructions
Add the coconut-flavored rum, dark rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, and grenadine to a cocktail shaker and fill it with ice.
Shake until thoroughly chilled. Fill a Collins or hurricane glass with fresh ice and strain the cocktail into the glass.
Garnish with a cherry and/or pineapple wedge if desired.
Notes
An orange slice or brandied cherry also make great garnishes for a Bahama mama!
Though the original version of a Bahama Mama does include coffee liqueur, most modern recipes no longer include it. It adds a subtle earthy and chocolatey element. If that sounds enticing, try swapping out the grenadine for an ounce of Kahlua or your favorite coffee liqueur.
Many modern variations of this cocktail call for white rum instead of dark rum. You can certainly make that swap if that is what you have on hand or prefer!
