Instructions
In a small mixing bowl, add paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, black pepper, cayenne, dried basil, and oregano. Stir gently to combine. If desired, you can use a spice grinder to break the herbs down into a finer consistency.
Apply to 1-2 pounds of fish (a semi-firm fish variety that won't fall apart), shrimp, chicken, steak, or your favorite meat.
Notes
This recipe will yield about 2 tablespoons of seasoning mix.
If you want a spicier blend, you can always adjust the amount of cayenne pepper that you add into the mix!
The longevity of your seasoning mixes depends on how fresh your seasonings were when you made the mix.
To store: Make sure to store your blackened seasoning in an airtight container or spice jar out of direct sunlight for up to 3 years.
