Instructions
Combine eggs, heavy cream or milk, vanilla extract and cinnamon & nutmeg in a dish deep enough to soak your bread pieces in. Whisk all ingredients until combined well.
Heat a large frying pan to medium high heat. Melt butter before adding french toast. Soak bread for 30 seconds per side in the egg mixture.
Transfer to heated frying pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side (depending on how hot your frying pan cooks) until golden brown and all egg is cooked.
Serve immediately.

You can buy unsliced bread so that you can cut the slices as thick as you like (I think 1 inch is the perfect thickness for French toast!)
For perfect French toast, allow your bread slices to dry out on a wire rack overnight (or use stale bread!)
The ratio of cream to eggs is pretty important, so make sure to measure it out! If you add too much cream (or milk), you could make your toast soggy. On the other hand, not having enough will make it hard for the mixture to be absorbed by the bread!
