MIRLITON DRESSING INGREDIENTS

– 3 pounds mirliton (whole chayote) – 1 lb fresh shrimp – 1 tablespoon butter  – 1 cup yellow onion – 1 teaspoon garlic  – 1 teaspoon dried thyme – ¼ teaspoon each, salt & pepper – 1 lb cooked ham  – 1 large egg – 1 ½ cups dry bread crumbs

BRING THE WHOLE CHAYOTE SQUASH TO A BOIL

AND BOIL THE SHRIMP UNTIL PINK

SAUTE THE DICED ONION

ADD SEASONING & GARLIC

STIR AND SAUTE, THEN REMOVE FROM HEAT

DICE HAM AND ADD TO LARGE MIXING BOWL WITH THE BOILED SHRIMP

ADD THE CUBED CHAYOTE SQUASH, BREADCRUMBS, AND SAUTEED ONION

COMBINE EGGS WITH WATER FROM BOILING THE SHRIMP

ADD TO THE BOWL OF MIRLITON INGREDIENTS

TRANSFER INTO A 9X13 BAKING DISH

MIX BREADCRUMBS AND BUTTER

BAKE UNTIL GOLDEN AND SERVE
