🍉 Fruits That Start With L
Also known as langsat, this is a small berry-like fruit that grows on a tree in East India that has a slightly tart flavor.
2. Lantana Berries
These small berries grow in groups on lantana bushes. They are a dark bluish-black in color and have a flavor that is sweet yet tart.
Lemons are a popular citrus fruit that is known for their tart and sour flavor! They have a wide variety of different purposes. In fact, you can add them to your beverages, make desserts with them, squeeze them over seafood, or more!
4. Lemonade Berry
Lemonade berries are red, small, and fuzzy fruit that grows on a lemonade sumac shrub. They have a tart and citrusy flavor but are not typically eaten whole as the fuzzy hairs can upset your stomach.
Instead, these fruits are more commonly steeped in water for 24 hours before using the resulting liquid in jams, jellies, or candies. Additionally, the fruit could be dried to enjoy in a salad or yogurt.
This popular citrus fruit has its place on the podium right next to the lemon! With a slightly different flavor, limes can be used in practically all of the same ways as a lemon!

A loganberry is actually a cross between a blackberry and a raspberry. They have the same appearance as blackberries and raspberries but are dark red in color.
A sweet, edible fruit that resembles litchi nuts.
These small fruit range from yellow to dark orange in color and are quite sweet. The flavor is similar to a mix between an apricot, plum, and cherry.
This tropical fruit is known for its sweet, floral, and acidic flavor. It is incredibly juicy and can be compared to a strawberry or pear with a slight hint of citrus.

11. Lamb's Lettuce
Lamb's lettuce (also called corn salad) is commonly eaten as a leaf vegetable in Europe, Asia, and Africa. It has a strong and nutty flavor that is typically enjoyed raw in salads.
Lambsquarters (also called white goosefoot) is an annual plant that is typically considered a weed! However, the leaves of the plant are edible and can be eaten just like spinach!
13. Leaf Beet
Leaf beet is actually a group of foods that contain different kinds of chards and beet spinach.
14. Leaf Lettuce
There are three types of leaf lettuce: red, green, and oak. Rather than a tight head formation, you'll find that leaf lettuce grows more loosely on a stalk.
15. Leaf Mustard
Leaf mustard, or mustard greens, is the leafy green portion of the mustard plant. They have a very peppery and pungent flavor which is similar to mustard itself!
Leeks are in the same genus as onions, shallots, chives, scallions, and garlic. They have a sweet, onion-type flavor.
Lettuce is a leaf vegetable that is commonly enjoyed in salads as well as sandwiches, hamburgers, wraps, and soups.

Legumes are an entire family of food all on their own! Within this family, you will find beans, peas, peanuts, soybeans, as well as lentils.
Additionally, legumes are low in fat yet high in fiber and are seen as one of the most versatile and nutritious foods around!
Lentils are a legume that is small and in the shape of a disc. They come in different colors and flavors, though they all have an earthy taste.
Packed with both protein and fiber, lentils are a great addition to any diet. They can be enjoyed in soups, on salads, in pilafs, or simply by themselves!
20. Lima Bean
Lima beans (or butter beans) have a mild flavor with a creamy texture. They taste great in succotash, salads, soups, and more!
21. Long Beans
Long beans have a distinct flavor and are not as sweet as green beans. They may look like a variety of green beans or haricots but are actually related to black-eyed peas. You can substitute long beans for green beans, but they aren't as crisp or flavorful.
22. Lupin Beans
These flat and yellow beans look reminiscent of lima beans but are actually a part of the pea family. Most commonly, you will find lupin beans as a pickled snack!

Lard is a cooking fat (like shortening or butter) that is made up of 100% animal fat from a pig. You can use it in the same ways as you would butter or shortening- frying, baking, grilling, roasting, sauteing, and more!
This herb is in the same family as mint. It pairs well with oregano, thyme, sage, and rosemary.
This fruit butter is made from apricots or prunes. It has a similar consistency to jam and is perfect for use as a pastry filling.
26. Lemon Basil
Lemon basil is actually a hybrid between basil and American basil. It has a fragrant lemon scent and is commonly used in cooking.

Lasagna is both a type of sheet pasta as well as a tasty dish itself! You can choose to make lasagna with or without meat, so it can easily be a vegetarian dish!
Flat noodles are layered with sauce, cheese, and herbs for a comforting and delicious meal!
Latke is a type of potato and onion fritter that is popular in Jewish cultures. Traditionally, it is eaten to celebrate Hanukkah!
This tasty type of pasta can be used in a ton of different dishes, both vegetarian-based and vegetarian. It has a similar structure to fettuccine pasta since it is long and flat (without being as wide).

Lo mein is a Chinese dish made up of egg noodles. You can enjoy this dish with only vegetables (thus making it vegetarian), or you can add in your favorite meats!

56. London Broil
London broil is actually a method of cooking rather than the type of meat itself (although you will find meat that is labeled as a London broil). Tough meat is marinated until tender and then cooked until medium-rare.

This tropical fish has a sweet flavor. However, they are filled with bones and have an oily texture, so they are commonly ground into a fish meal.
58. Lake Trout
A freshwater char that is incredibly popular. They are incredibly versatile and can be deep-fried, baked, pan-fried, and even boiled.
Langouste is simply a spiny lobster.
Langoustine, also called the Norway lobster, is actually much closer in appearance to crawfish. The difference is that crawfish are freshwater crustaceans while langoustine lives in saltwater.
Limpets are aquatic snails that are eaten in a similar fashion to oysters or clams. They have a unique flavor and are slightly chewier than mussels.

This lean, white fish has a mild flavor. It has a flaky texture and is packed with protein and omega-3s!

Lobster bisque is a smooth and creamy soup that is based on strained lobster stock.

Risotto is a dish that consists of rice that is cooked while slowly adding in warmed broth or stock. Lobster risotto uses lobster stock and has lobster in the dish as well!

Foods That Start With L: Lasagna (+More Ideas!)
- 1 lb sweet Italian sausage
- ¾ lb lean ground beef
- ½ cup white onion (minced - about 1 large onion)
- 1 teaspoon garlic (minced)
- 14.5 oz diced tomatoes (I prefer the fire roasted tomatoes)
- 12 oz tomato paste
- 29 oz tomato sauce
- 4 tablespoon fresh basil (chopped, reserve ½ for the ricotta mixture)
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1 ½ teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1 teaspoon each, salt & pepper (to taste - wait until the sauce is nearly done cooking to add more salt, if needed)
- 12+ lasagna noodles
- ¾ lb mozzarella cheese (sliced or grated)
- ¾ lb Parmesan cheese (shredded or grated)
- 32 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs (at room temperature, beaten)
- In a deep cooking pot or Dutch oven, cook the sausage, ground beef, onion and garlic over medium heat until well browned. Add tomato products (crushed or diced tomatoes, paste and sauce) and stir into cooked meat.1 lb sweet Italian sausage, ¾ lb lean ground beef, ½ cup white onion, 1 teaspoon garlic, 14.5 oz diced tomatoes, 12 oz tomato paste, 29 oz tomato sauce
- Add seasoning (sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, salt & pepper) and 2 tablespoons of the fresh basil. Combine ingredients thoroughly and cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 ½ hours, stirring occasionally.4 tablespoon fresh basil, 2 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, 1 ½ teaspoon dried basil, 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, 1 teaspoon each, salt & pepper
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add lasagna noodles and cook 8-10 minutes. Drain noodles and rinse with cold water.12+ lasagna noodles
- Combine ricotta mixture in a medium/large mixing bowl, add ricotta cheese, eggs (beaten), the remaining 2 tablespoon fresh basil, and 1 teaspoon salt.32 oz ricotta cheese, 1 teaspoon salt, 2 large eggs
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Layer your lasagna in a lasagna pan or a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, start by spreading 1 ½ cups of the meat sauce on the bottom of the pan. Arrange six noodles lengthwise on the meat sauce, then spread ½ the ricotta mixture onto the noodles. Top ricotta cheese mixture with ⅓ of the mozzarella cheese (sliced or grated), then spoon 1 ½ cups of the meat sauce over the mozzarella. After the meat sauce layer add ¼ cup Parmesan cheese and repeat layers. Once done with both layers, use remaining cheese to top off the lasagna.¾ lb mozzarella cheese, ¾ lb Parmesan cheese
- Cover with foil (use non-stick spray on underside of foil, or make sure that the foil does not touch the top layer of cheese).
- Bake the lasgana for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake another 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and sauce is bubbling at pan edges. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
